Jean Stewart awarded."Order of the Long-Leaf Pine".

Since 1963, North Carolina's Governors have reserved their highest honor, "The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award", for persons who have made significant contributions to the State and their Communities through their exemplary service and exceptional accomplishments.

Recently, during the Annual Meeting of the Housing Authority of the City of Lumberton (HACL), Jean Stewart, who serves as the Safety & Security Coordinator  was presented The Order of the Long Leaf Pine by NC House Representative Jarrod Lowery.

Representative Lowery, was able to share his own personal experience of Stewart's fervor to assist anyone in distress.  He had a road side emergency, for which he reached out to Stewart, who was unable to personally assist, but she immediately sent someone in her place.  The emergency was resolved, and Lowery was back on the road.  According to Lowery, "she never hesitated to help, and followed up to ensure he was OK".

Jean's journey began decades ago, driven by an unyielding determination to effect meaningful change.  As an influential advocate for education and community development, she has played a pivotal role in spearheading various initiatives that have helped transform the lives of many, right here in our community.

Stewart's service includes 30 years working for the NC Department of Corrections and 14 years with the Lumberton Housing Authority.  She is a member of several state, community, and local associations, such as the Robeson County Fair Board the American Red Cross and Correctional Peace Officers Foundation.  She is married to Terry Stewart who is also a recipient of this honor.

According to HACL Executive Director, Adrian Lowery, "Jean Stewart is that person on your team, who you can call at any time during the day or night, who will pick up the phone, get the job done the right way and never seek any praise or recognition."

Please join, the Lumberton Housing Authority, the City of Lumberton, Robeson County, and Representative Lowery in extending a big Thank You to Jean Stewart for her unwavering service to our community.
