HACL COVID-19 Update

Operations:
The Housing Authority of the City of Lumberton (HACL) offices are operating as follows:
Main Office (407 N. Sycamore): Mon-Thur 8:00AM - 4:00PM, Fri - 8:00AM - 12:00PM
Lobby is open for rent payment and application receipt. Face-to-face meetings with staff have been suspended until further notice, and support can be provided through phone and/or email: publichousing@hacl014.com or hcv@hacl014.com

Public Housing:
The Housing Authority of the City of Lumberton has elected to follow the guidance issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In PIH Notice 2020-13, REV-1 (2 JUL 2020) it states that the (HACL) has the option to delay Public Housing annual unit inspections (physical). Due to the rising coronavirus cases and limiting the risk conditional exposure of our tenant and staff, we have decided to enact this PIH Notice 2020-13, REV-1 (2 JUL 2020) option on INTERIOR inspections only, and until further notice. EXTERIOR inspections will still be conducted with items found being mitigated by HACL maintenance. Work, including scheduled Interior repairs for non-emergency work, Annual Inspections, and other Skilled Trades or Maintenance Work in occupied units, is suspended until further notice. We will notify residents when staff will resume responding to non-emergency repairs at developments and in apartments.

Housing Choice Voucher:
The Housing Authority of the City of Lumberton has elected to follow the guidance issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In PIH Notice 2020-13, REV-1 (2 JUL 2020), it states that the (HACL) has the option to delay Housing Choice Voucher annual inspections (physical) and move-in inspections until further notice. Landlords/stakeholders will self-certify readiness of the housing unit prior to execution of the voucher contract. Landlords/stakeholders may be asked to provide proof of work completion upon self-certification. For more information on how this affects a potential tenant, please email: hcv@hacl014.com
